BIO 39: African Ecology Itinerary (proposed)


Day 1           Depart Greenville in the morning      
        2          Arrive early morning in Capetown, South Africa, fly on to Port                                       Elizabeth, take bus to Grahamstown.
        3-5       Museum of Natural Science, JLB Institute of Ichthyology, 1820                                    settlers museum, Rhodes Univ.
        6-10     Mountain Zebra National Park:  assist with Rhodes research on                                    biodiversity; national conservation policy
        11-16    Fish River Reserve: small mammals, river watch, succulent thicket,                               disturbance, bat netting, reptile surveys
        17         Woody Cape Nature Reserve:  South African coastal environments
        18-19    Addo Elephant National Park:  Elephant altered ecosystems, night                                drives, water hole watch
        20-22    Kruger National Park: large mammal ecology, predator/prey                                        dynamics, ecotourism and conservation.
        23          Depart South Africa
