Off-Campus Research/Internship Opportunities

The Conservation Careers Diversity Internship Program provides students with paid training and research opportunities at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and USDA Forest Service. The program focuses principally on Hispanic, African, Asian, and Native Americans--groups traditionally underrepresented in the conservation field. While all students with an interest in conservation may apply, the program is designed primarily to serve students with interest in these and other related academic disciplines: Forestry, Soil Science, Civil Engineering, Range Conservation, Natural Resources, Plant Science, Hydrology, Occupational Safety & Health, Archeology, GIS, Wildlife Science, Fishery Science, Biology, Parks and Recreation, and Environmental Education.

MARC Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research (U*STAR) Awards provide support for students who are members of minority groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences to improve their preparation for graduate training in biomedical research. These minority groups include, but are not limited to, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans (including Alaska Natives), and natives of the U.S. Pacific Islands. The program can also support efforts to strengthen the faculty, science course curricula, and biomedical research training programs and infrastructure at institutions with significant enrollments of minority students.
