FILE MANAGEMENT

WHERE DID IT GO?

Tutorial 6: Retrieving a Document
OK, Now where did I put that
sucker?
Retrieving a document is simple, once you know how
to save a document. It's the same process in reverse. Let's
assume that yesterday you saved a file named "test.doc". Today, you
want to go back and add to it. So instead of creating a new file
you will OPEN an existing file.
We will open MSWord and then click on "OPEN." A dialogue box will
open up. This box is asking us, "What file do you want to work on
now?" It is up to us to choose the file. In order to choose
it, we will have to follow the same four steps we followed when we saved
it:
-
What drive is the file on?
-
What folder is it in?
-
What is the name of the file?
-
What type of file is it? (.doc, .htm, etc.)
Now it's your turn ...
In the demo that follows, you will see how to open the file named "test"
that you saved earlier. You will add to it and then save it again.
When you have finished viewing the demo, retrieve
your own document named "test," add a sentence to it, then save it again.
