Field Studies in Biology is an outdoor, summer course that emphasizes the natural history, flora, fauna, and ecological principles of the Southwest. We live in a renovated ghost town on the 300,000+ acre Ladder Ranch on the edge of the Aldo Leopold Wilderness in south-central New Mexico, U.S.A. The course involves numerous field activities such as hiking, camping, and orienteering, as well as field study techniques such as vegetation sampling and surveys for mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Students should have a love for the outdoors and an adventurous spirit. For an application click here. For photos of the areas we will be living and working in click here.
