Anyone watching Dave's World on CBS on May 22, 1995 would
have seen two of the actors wearing sweatshirts from Furman
University. How, you might ask, did it happen? It's easy if one of
the graduates of your department happens to be the Executive
Producer of the show!
Don Todd is a 1981 graduate from our department. Immediately
after graduating, he set out for California. As is typical with most
young people who go to the big city to seek fame and fortune, Don had
many "interesting jobs" while he waited for his big break.
Starting with some modest writing credits on forgettable TV
shows, Don eventually ended up as head writer on the ALF show. Don
put some brilliant and very funny lines into the mouth of the furry
alien. He was finally recognized for his talents and began to move up
the ladder of TV show business.
Don's most recent work was on the Dave's World show on the
CBS network. This is actually the second time that Don was able to
feature Furman shirts on the show. Because they got such extensive
air-time, the University has received several calls from graduates
who saw the show and were surprised to see Furman's name so
prominently displayed on national TV.
It pays to have your graduates "out there" and working!
