Who has just had the lobby of the The Playhouse named after her?

The Curtain Call of the Saturday, November 7th performance of Night of the Iguana was stopped and Gladys McCorkle was brought onto the stage and presented a certificate allowing her free admission to all future Drama department productions.

A proclamation was read commending her for the 30 years of faithful service to the Department. The document, which will be framed and hung in the lobby of The Playhouse names the lobby the Gladys McCorkle Lobby. The ceremony was a complete surprise for Gladys. Many in the audience recognized Gladys from her years of service to the theatre and there was a sustained and warm applause - from audience, cast and crew.

Here is the text of the citation:

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS Gladys McCorkle has served faithfully as Secretary of the Department of Drama at Furman University for 30 years...
and
WHEREAS her wit, warmth and good humor have enriched the lives of all around her...
and
WHEREAS she has been a surrogate mother and counselor to generations of students...
and
WHEREAS she has nurtured, appeased and satisfied countless season subscribers and theatre patrons...
and
WHEREAS she has weathered multiple changes of department chairs and faculty...
and
WHEREAS she has put up with the quirks, eccentricities and downright bull headedness of a goodly number of faculty...
and
WHEREAS she makes perhaps the best baklava in the Upstate...
and
WHEREAS she has become forever woven into the fabric of life in The Playhouse...

Be it therefore resolved that

The lobby of The Playhouse be hereafter known as the

GLADYS MCCORKLE LOBBY

and
Be it further resolved that she be awarded a LIFETIME PASS to all Department of Drama activities.
