BROWNLEE NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICA
GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman University midfielder Kaye Brownlee became the first women's soccer player in school history to earn first team All-America honors as she was named to the NSCAA/adidas Women's Senior College All-America First Team on Friday afternoon. The award recognizes Brownlee as one of the top three midfielders in the nation.
Brownlee becomes the first Lady Paladin to earn first team honors in Furman's six-year women's soccer history. Two weeks ago, she became the first women's soccer player at Furman to earn first team All-South honors by the NSCAA.
A sophomore from Kennesaw, Ga., Brownlee led Furman with 13 goals and 17 assists on the season. She set Furman single season records for goals and points. Brownlee finished the season fourth in the nation in assists after placing second during her freshman season.
Furman finished the season 20-3, setting school and Southern Conference records for overall wins. The Lady Paladins also set records for goals, assists, points, conference wins, wins at home, and wins on the road. The Lady Paladins, the Southern Conference regular season and tournament champions, earned their first NCAA Tournament bid in history.
