FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS CHARLESTON SOUTHERN 1-0
CHARLESTON, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team won its fifth straight match Friday as they downed Charleston Southern 1-0 in the first round of the College of Charleston tournament at Remley's Point.
After a scoreless first half, Furman senior Tara Brexel scored the lone goal for the Lady Paladins off a Lindsey Facciolo assist at the 55:14 mark to ensure the victory.
Furman freshman goalkeeper Jessi Anucinski recorded her fourth shutout of the season as she stopped a penalty kick during the match.
Furman, ranked seventh in the Southeast Region by both the NSCAA and Soccer Buzz, improves to 8-1 on the season. The Lady Paladins will face host College of Charleston on Sunday at 1 p.m.
