FURMAN TOPS GEORGIA STATE 2-1 IN 0T;

BROWNLEE SETS FURMAN SEASON POINTS MARK

ATLANTA -- With less than two minutes gone in overtime Sarah Tollick scored the game-winning goal to give the Lady Paladins their seventh straight victory and a 16-2 overall record.

The game-winner was scored immediately after a line of several Georgia State defenders blocked two Furman shots from point blank range early in the first overtime period. Lauren Killey won the ball that had been cleared from the scramble, passed to Melissa Sutton, who flicked the ball to an open Tollick. Tollick finished the play, as she had done six previous times this year, to end the match.

Georgia State freshman Ashley Edwards, assisted by Kara Palmquist, scored the first goal of the game for the Lady Panthers at 14:32. The Lady Paladins scored with only 50 second remaining in the first half to bring the score to 1-1 at halftime. Kaye Brownlee scored the tieing goal off a double assist by Melissa Turner and Lauren Killey. Brownlee's goal set a new Paladin record for the most points scored in a single season. She breaks the record she set last season. Brownlee now has 10 goals and 16 assists for 36 points.

The Paladins dominated most of the game, outshooting the Lady Panthers 17-10.

The match marked the seventh overtime match of the season for the Lady Paladins, who post a 5-2 mark in the extra periods. It was the fourth overtime win for Furman decided in the first five minutes of overtime.

Furman improves to 16-2, while Georgia State falls to 9-7-1. The Lady Paladins host 23rd-ranked Iowa Friday night at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium.
