FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER TO HOST CENTRAL FLORIDA

IN NCAA TOURNAMENT

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament bid and will host Central Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday night. The match is tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Lady Paladins are 20-2 on the season after downing Davidson 2-1 in four overtimes in Sunday's Southern Conference Tournament Final.

The winner of Wednesday's first round match will travel to face 14-time national champion North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill on either Saturday or Sunday. Furman was one of 11 first-time participants.

Furman set a Southern Conference record for wins in a season with 20 and broke team records for wins, goals, and assists this season.

The Lady Paladins have been led by sophomore Kaye Brownlee with 13 goals and 16 assists on the season. Brownlee scored the game-winner in Furman's SoCon tournament championship with just under four minutes to play in the final overtime period.
