FURMAN PAIR CONTINUES TO LEAD NATION IN SCORING

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman women's soccer forwards Emily Turgeon and Melissa Turner are first and second in the nation in total points for the second straight week, according to official NCAA Statistics released on Tuesday.

Freshman Emily Turgeon, from Raleigh, N.C., is leading the nation with 43 points on the season, while Turner, a junior from Marietta, Ga., is second with 41 points.

Each had productive weeks as they helped Furman win two key Southern Conference wins over College of Charleston 2-0 and over Georgia Southern 3-2. Turgeon earned Southern Conference player-of-the-week honors for two goal, two assist performance which included the game-winner against Georgia Southern. Turner also scored two goals and recorded one assist on the weekend. She tallied the game-winner against College of Charleston.

Emily Turgeon has scored 14 goals and recorded 15 assists this season in 15 matches. She places ninth in the nation in goals and is second in assists. She has started all 15 matches and has recorded a goal or an assist in 13 of the Lady Paladins' 15 matches this season. Turgeonıs 43 points ties her with 1999 first team All American Kaye Brownlee for the Furman single season points record.

Turner leads the Paladins with 17 goals on the year and has recorded seven assists. She has already broken the Furman single season goal record, a mark she and Kaye Brownlee set last year with 13 goals. Turner is tied for the national lead in goals.

The Lady Paladins are leading the nation in total goals scored as they have scored 65 goals this season. They rank third in goals per match with 4.33 average.

Furman is ranked 17th in the nation in both the American Soccer Writers and Soccer Buzz national polls and are 14-1 on the season, 6-0 in the Southern Conference.

The Lady Paladins travel to face Davidson in a key Southern Conference match-up Saturday 1 p.m.
