FURMAN'S TURGEON LEADING NATION IN SCORING

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman women's soccer freshman Emily Turgeon is leading the nation in total points for the third straight week and now sits atop the national points per match charts in the official NCAA Statistics released at the beginning of the week.

Joining Turgeon among the national scoring leaders is teammate Melissa Turner. Turner entered the week with 41 points on 17 goals and 7 assists to place third in the nation in total points and total goals scored. Turner added an assist in Mondayıs Southern Conference clinching victory over UNCG. Turnerıs 17 goals this season is a new Furman single season record.

Turgeon extended her national scoring lead with two goals in the final seven minutes of last weekıs come-from-behind victory over Davidson. She now has 16 goals and 15 assists on the season for 47 points. Turgeonıs 47 points this season is a new Furman single season record.

The Lady Paladins are third in the nation in scoring and have already equaled their previous record for goals scored in a season.

Furman is ranked 14th in the nation by Soccer Buzz and 16th in the American Soccer Writers national polls. The Lady Paladins are 16-1 on the season, 8-0 in the Southern Conference.

The Lady Paladins travel to face Wofford Thursday at 7 p.m.
