FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER RANKED 17TH IN NATION

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team jumped three spots to 17th in the Soccer Buzz Top 25 and improved one spot to 18th in the nation in the latest American Soccer Writers (ASW) national poll.

Furman improved its Southern Conference record to 4-0 last week with a 4-1 win over Chattanooga and a 2-1 win over Western Carolina.

The Lady Paladins are 12-1 on the season and have defeated two teams from the SEC, one from the ACC, one from the Big East, and one from Conference USA this season. Dating back to last season, Furman has won 23 of its last 25 matches and 16 straight Southern Conference matches.

Furman's Melissa Turner has paced the Lady Paladins with 15 goals this season, while freshman Emily Turgeon has 12 goals and 13 assists on the season.

Furman will host College of Charleston, who defeated UNCG last weekend, on Friday at 7 p.m. and Georgia Southern on Sunday at 1 p.m.

In other polls released Monday, the Lady Paladins are ranked sixth in the Southeast Region by the NSCAA and are receiving votes in the NSCAA national poll. Furman is fourth in the Soccer Buzz Southeast Region poll.
