FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER IMPROVES TO 14TH IN NATION

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team moved up three spots to 14th in the latest Soccer Buzz national poll and rose one spot to 16th in the American Soccer Writers (ASW) Top 25 this week.

With its 1-0 shutout on the road at UNC Greensboro on Monday, the Lady Paladins clinched their second straight Southern Conference regular season title. Furman has now won 20 straight Southern Conference matches, currently the third longest conference winning streak in the nation (behind Notre Dame in the Big East and Florida in the SEC).

The Lady Paladins are 16-1 overall, 8-0 in the Southern Conference. Furman¹s record of 36-4 since the start of the 1999 season is third best in the nation, behind only Nebraska (37-2-2) and North Carolina (36-3). Furman has two regular season matches remaining this year before the Southern Conference Tournament November 2-5 in Charleston, S.C.

The Lady Paladins travel to Wofford on Thursday and will host South Carolina Wednesday, October 25 at 7 p.m. on senior night.

Furman freshman Emily Turgeon continues to lead the nation in points as she now totals 16 goals and 15 assists on the year.
