FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER RANKED 13TH IN NATION
GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team is ranked 13th in the nation
in the latest American Soccer Writers national poll and 14th in the Soccer Buzz
poll.
Furman concluded the 2000 regular season with an 18-1 record after defeating
South Carolina 3-1 last week. The Lady Paladins enter the Southern Conference
Tournament this week as the No. 1 seed and will face Appalachian State Thursday
at 11:30 a.m. in the first round. The winner of the Southern Conference Tournament
will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Furman's record of 38-4 since the start of the 1999 season is second best in
the nation, behind only Nebraska (39-2-2).
Furman freshman Emily Turgeon continues to lead the nation in points as she
now totals 21 goals and 17 assists for 59 points on the year.
