SECOND-RANKED STANFORD, ALABAMA'S KIMANI, WIN MEN'S BLACK PRE-MEET

The second-ranked Cardinal of Stanford won the Men's Pre-Meet Black Division Saturday at the Furman Invitational/NCAA Pre-Meet, with 56 total points, 38 better than second-place North Carolina State.

The Cardinal was paced by Grant Robison, who finished second individually with a time of 24:31and Ian Dobson, who took fifth in 24:41. Three Cardinal runners placed in the top 10 and all five scorers were in the top 25.

The individual title was won by Alabama's David Kimani, the NCAA individual champion in 1999. Kimani covered the 8K course in 24:06 to lead the Tide to an 11th-place showing in the field of 37. Ninth-ranked Northern Arizona placed third and 17th-ranked BYU was fourth.
