Second-Ranked Stanford Wins Women's Silver Race

The second ranked Cardinal of Stanford topped fourth-ranked Brigham Young by two points, 72-74 Saturday in the NCAA Pre-Cross Country Meet's Silver Race.

Stanford placed three runners in the top 10, including third-place finisher Alicia Craig (20:48) and Sarah Bei, who tok fourth in 20:52.

The Cougars of BYU were led by Tara Northcutt's fifth-place time of 20:57 and Michaela Manoca's 21:04 seventh-place showing. The third-ranked Wolfpack of North Carolina State took third and sixth-ranked Boston College took fourth.

Individually, the Silver Race was won by University of Washington's Sabrina Monro in record time of 20:26. The previous course standard was set in 2000 by UNC's Shalane Flanagan, and stood at 20:51. Boston College's Catherine Guiney finished second in 20:31 and Alicia Craig placed third in 20:48.
