The Southern Conference

Germann Cup

Furman's Lady Paladin athletic teams are well on the way to establishing themselves as a true league dynasty, after winning the Southern Conference's Germann Cup for the 11th consecutive year in 2003.

Named for former league commissioner Ken Germann, the cup is awarded annually to the Southern Conference school with the best all-around women's athletics program.Points for the cup are awarded according to each team's finish in conference competition. The Lady Paladin athletic teams tallied 85.0 points on the year, outpacing runner-up Chattanooga by 6.5 points and third-place UNC Greensboro by 10.5.

Furman's 11 year hold on the Germann Cup is a conference record, four better than the six consecutive trophies won by Appalachian State from 1987-92. The Mountaineers won the Cup the first six years it was awarded and Furman has won it every year since.
