FURMAN'S CROSBY EARNS VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman's Kevin Crosby, a junior from Matthews, N.C., was named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District III menšs track/cross country team, it was announced on Thursday. Crosby and nine other men will represent District III on the national Ballot for Academic All-America.

A computer science/math major who maintains a 3.81 grade point average, Crosby recorded victories in the 5,000m run at the Furman Invitational and Steve Scott Invitational (UC-Irvine) and in the 10,000m run at the Southern Conference Championships. Crosby also won three meets in the cross country season and placed second at the league championship.

Crosby is just the second man in the history of Furman track and field to earn Academic All-District honors, following in the footsteps of Tim Briles, who was named to the 2001 team.
