Write a paragraph of 70-80 words based on the following topic:
Your friend is planning to take a vacation and is interested
in traveling to either Geneva or Brussels. Because you took
French 21, you are admirably well-suited to make a recommendation.
Write a note to your friend and try to convince him/her to
travel to one or the other of the two cities by listing or
describing some of the interesting things to see and do in
that city and/or region. Be as specific as possible in naming
at least five points of interest. Use at least one example
of each of the following (which you underline) in order to
persuade your friend:
- a
sentence with the subjunctive
- the
verb devoir
- a
sentence with si
- the
present conditional
(these may be combined in various ways if necessary)
You
will write the paragraph without notes during the exam.

Future, conditional past and present, imperfect, plus-que-parfait,
present, imperative. Use of all of the above with conjunctions
si and quand. Pay particular attention to
new irregular verbs introduced in these two chapters: mettre,
tenir, devoir.

Be able to choose the correct form of devoir based
on its English equivalent.
- NEGATION.
Answer questions using the negative expression which is
the direct opposite of an italicized expression in the question.
Do not use "ne pas" or the same negative expression twice.
Example: Avez-vous déjà préparé
le gâteau? Non, je n'ai pas encore préparé
le gâteau.
- PREPOSITIONS
I. Choose the correct preposition to complete the meaning
of each verb.

II. Choose the correct preposition to precede each geographical
name. Read the sentence carefully to see whether the subject
is in or is going to a place, or is coming from
or leaving a place.

Write a short (50-60 words) paragraph. You will be asked
to discuss a hypothetical situation concerning an upcoming
trip to Strasbourg. Make sure that you can reference various
cultural aspects of the town and region, and that you are
able to hypothesize correctly in all three modes.
