1. Read Chadabe, Ch. 4 (81-107). Here are some questions to think about:
- What was the significance of the name of the San Francisco Tape Music Center?
- Why did musicians in the 1960's decide to build their own electronic music devices?
- What does Chadabe mean when he describes the many festivals organized during the 1960's as being "of the 1960's"
2. Write up a draft proposal for your performance project.
3. Compose a 1-minute piece using LiSa, according to the following guidelines:
1. Choose a short text, record yourself reading it, save this recording into your Sample Library.
2. Drag your recorded sample into the Sample Buffer.
3. Create several different playback zones which will treat your recording in different ways (various excerpts, transposed, backwards, Pattern playback, etc). Assign these playback zones to different keys on the PC1x.
4. Compose a piece you can perform using these materials.
EXTRA CREDIT: Add a live element to your composition (either yourself, or another class member).
Be prepared to perform your piece for the class on Tuesday March 28.
