"DVD Authoring and Production"


This year’s topic is “DVD Authoring and Production.” Students will learn the various techniques that are involved with production of a DVD, including video editing, menu design, audio streams, encoding and burning, slideshows, subtitles, multi-channel audio, etc. After a series of introductory assignments, students will design and produce a DVD on a topic of their choice. Software will include Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack, DVD Studio Pro), iLife (iMovie, iDVD), and Digital Performer.

Class will meet in the seminar room on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 10:50 AM. Class meetings will consist of lecture/demonstrations of hardware and software resources, viewing and listening to published DVDs, discussion of assigned readings, and presentation/feedback on developing projects.

Grades will be based on assignments and quizzes (25%), attendance/participation (25%), and the final creative project (50%).

Seminar Room Policies

- Absolutely no food or drink at any time.

- Always enter your session in the Log Book.

- Normal the board when you're finished.

- Lock the 'cage' when you're finished with your session.

- Never leave the 'cage' unlocked (even if you're just taking a 'comfort break').

- You must present an ID card to obtain the key to the 'cage.'

- Weekly sign-up sheets will be posted the Friday before each week. If you are not present by ten minutes after the time of your sign-up, you forfeit your entire block of time.
