Unhealthy Eating Habits on Campus

MISSION STATEMENT
This is an online forum designed to explore the range of unhealthy eating habits of college students. We hope to provoke proactive discussion concerning any and all sides of this issue. Furthermore, we hope to provide educational links that will help offset the damaging effects that these habits often spark. More specifically, we aim to establish a healthier living environment at Furman University. Please feel free to post any comments on our site. Please note, anonymous comments are welcome.

    ISSUE SUMMARY
Colleges and universities often serve as a breeding ground for unhealthy living habits, such as eating disorders and lack of physical activity. With the rigorous schedule of an everyday college student, a healthy eating style tends to be outweighed by more convenient but less nutritional diet. This convenience often drives students into one of two extremes: overeating or under-eating.
Should Furman implement a policy that more aggressively promotes healthy eating lifestyles? OR Should universities be preparing students for "real life" by offering services but not require the utilization of these services?
