There are multiple ways
to generate accented characters when using Microsoft Word:
The
Ctrl method.
The
numeric method. Hold down the Alt key while entering the following number
combinations on the numeric keypad:
Uniquely
Spanish punctuation marks (À and Á).
Numeric:
á
ALT + 0191 = À
á
ALT + 0161 = Á
Set
language:
á
Select the text in
your document that is in Spanish.
á
Go to the Tools menu.
á
Scroll over Language ˆ Set languageÉ
á
Select Spanish
(Spain-Modern Sort) from the
list.
á
Type ! or ?.
These characters will automatically convert to Á and À
respectively if you have set the language correctly.
*The numeric methods
(using the number keypad and ALT)
will function in any program and are not limited to MS Word.
*If you use a laptop, use
the Function key (often blue and abbreviated as FN)
to activate the numeric keypad. The keypad numbers are blue and appear on other
keys on the right-hand side of your keyboard.
