Goals and Objectives:
Here, again, like chapter 7 most of this
information is background material that should be review from Bgy 33:
Cell Biology. I will not ask specific questions from this chapter
except pages 181-183 which deals with the regulation of photosynthesis.
Be able to explain how the light -harvesting
complexes (LHC) function to regulate the input of energy into Photosystem
II (PS II) and Photosystem I (PS I).
Be able to explain the difference between
the long term control of energy distribution and short term control
of energy distribution in photosynthesis.
Just for background purposes, study figure
9.13 to see how the photosynthetic electron transport system is organized
in the thylakoid membrane. Note the position of PSII, PSI, LHC II,
and LHC I.
