Osteopathic Medical Schools
A doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) differs from an M.D. in that the emphasis during training years is placed on palpatory diagnosis and manipulative treatment in conjunction with all other recognized diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in total health care management. Post baccalaureate training consists of 4 years at one of the 18 colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, one year of a rotating internship, and then residencies for those wishing to become a certified specialist. Applicant pool averages for 1998 were:GPA 3.32 and MCAT total of 24.3. Applications are made through AACOMAS.
