Podiatric Medical Schools

A doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) has the legal authority to make independent professional judgments and to administer medical and surgical treatment. His practice is restricted to foot care, but may be oriented toward podiatric medicine, orthopedics & biomechanics, podiatric surgery, podopediatrics, podogeriatrics, or podiatric sports medicine. Training at one of the 7 schools of podiatric medicine lasts 4 years. Applicants should have GPA’s of 3.0 or better and MCAT averages of 7.5. Course requirements are the same as for medical school and application is made through AACPMAS.
