Course Content



Our focus will be the beginning of our journey in learning how to speak Spanish. We will focus on the areas of language, culture, geography, and current events under the umbrella of the arts. We will speak, sing, and dance, as well as investigate the contributions of Spanish arts: writers, dramatists, painters, musicians, and dancers.





Materials Needed

You will need to bring to class these items every day:
* Three-ring notebook with notebook paper
* Pencil or pen (with blue or black ink)
* High density diskette

El Círculo Español de la Escuela de las Artes

The R. H. Rollings School of the Arts Spanish Club

The Spanish Club will be an active one! You can count on food days, celebration of many Hispanic holidays, and lots of trips. Past outings have included trips to Taco Bell and Los Loros, and laser tag at Q-Zar (the OMS Spanish Club even had a Q-Zar lock-in last year). I also plan to have outings to see the South Carolina Stingrays, and a Myrtle Beach day trip to Wild Water and Wheels is also on the schedule. The OMS Spanish Club also went to Cancún, México, two times, and we experienced whitewater rafting on the Chattooga River last summer. And what do all these activities have to do with learning Spanish? Plenty! We'll be learning and practicing the language as we establish our community of learners.

Membership Requirements for El Círculo Español

You'll be invited to join El Círculo Español if:
(1) You have and maintain an A or B average in Exploratory Spanish, and
(2) You have not received more than one discipline demerit in Exploratory Spanish class, and
(3) You have not received more than a total of three discipline demerits in all of your classes during
any nine-week period.
