I was born in Charleston, SC on October 31, 1970. My family and I moved around quite a bit when I was young. We have lived in West Viginia, Oklahoma, Ohio and Anderson, SC. I attended T.L Hanna High School in Anderson, SC (graduated with honors in 1989). When I was a junior at Hanna, I was a Rotary foreign exchange student to Belgium for nine months! This is where I learned to REALLY speak French! Belgians are such nice people! Visit there if you can!
After graduating high school, I headed off to college! Did I say college? I guess I should say colleges!!! First, I attended the College of Charleston. I loved it! I just love my "hometown"! Unfortunately, I decided to transfer after only a year and a half, because I thought I wanted to persue an International Studies degree at the University of South Carolina (Columbia). After about a year at USC...I moved AGAIN! Yes...again! My parents lived and still live in Louisville, KY...so I moved up there! I finished up my bachelor's degree in French at the University of Louisville in 1993.
While an undergraduate student at Louisville, I had the opportunity to participate in a Work-Study Exchange Program to Montpellier, France (Summer, 1992). Montpellier is Louisville's sister-city! I LOVE THE SOUTH OF FRANCE! I traveled a little all over the place that summer! I even went back to Belgium to visit my host families!
In 1993-94, I stayed in Louisville for Graduate School. I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in French. I really enjoyed my teaching experience and learned A LOT...BUT I was really burned out with school! I moved back "home" (South Carolina) and started to work in the "REAL WORLD". I won't go into all those experiences! Put it this way...I will never forget them! Finally, I had enough and decided to go back to school!
In January 1997, I started pursuing my master's degree in Education at Furman University. I completed it in February, 1998. I start my teaching internship at Traveler's Rest High School on March 4, 1998. By the end of May, 1998 I will be certified to teach. I am very excited!!
I live in downtown Greenville, SC. I LOVE IT! I live in a historic home built in the early 1900's. It's close to EVERYTHING! I hope to stay in South Carolina when I start teaching.
Here's a picture of my kitty! His name is Hiero. I named him Hiero
because when he was a kitten he had a little stick man figure design on
his back. He's the best!
Well...that should do it! C'est ma vie!
