Furman's small, intimate theatre, with its thrust stage and seating capacity of 105, offers a special dramatic experience for actors and audience alike. The Playhouse has proven to be a remarkably versatile setting for many different types of productions, and its cozy atmosphere helps establish a close bond between theatre-goers and performers. The Playhouse itself consists of much more than the theatre. It is also home for a well-equipped scene shop, a costume shop, wardrobe storage, makeup and dressing rooms, and a green room. The technical control booth provides students experience using state of the art computer lighting control equipment and modern sound reproduction equipment. A small carpeted studio seats around 75 for student productions or serves as a rehearsal area or classroom.
Productions in The Playhouse generally run for two weeks. The box office hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. It is generally opened for the general public two weeks before the scheduled opening of the show.
