 Black-throated Blue Warbler
   Dendroica caerulescens

Status:

Uncommon

 SP, F

Black-throated Blue Warblers have been observed on campus in both spring and fall in the woods at Montague Village. These birds undergo a dramatic change in plumage between the two seasons, molting out of a striking blue/white/black and into a very plain brown. The picture at top left shows breeding plumage, while the picture at bottom left shows non-breeding plumage.
