Buffleheads are present on any given day throughout the
winter months. These diving ducks generally arrive later than Ring-necked
Ducks and leave earlier. In 2009, one bird was still present through the
first week of April. The bright white of males (top left; pair bottom
left) can be easily spotted from the shore of Furman Lake. One pair
remained on the pond at the Furman Golf Course throughout the winter of
2009. |
